What is Admin by Request?
Admin By Request provides end users a way to request administrator access for their currently logged in user account. It will allow you to have temporary administrative rights to your workstation, or to just a single application/executable on demand.

- Requirements
- Admin by Request Client must be installed on the computer
- Approval Expiration
- Approvals expire after 2 weeks. If approval expires before you are able to use the administrator access. You well gave to submit another request.
- Code of Conduct
- If your request is approved, all changes to the workstation are logged, follow Kean University Code of Conduct at all times.
Request a program to be "Run as Administrator"
1. Run the application that requires administrative privileges, or right-click the executable and select "Run as Administrator".
2. At the User Account Control prompt, fill in the required information. Please be as detailed as possible.
3. Please Review and accept the code of Coduct
4.After submitting your request you will receive an acknowledge on the screen as well as by email.
5. If you request is approved you will see a popup in the bottom right of your desktop as well as your email. You can choose to run the requested program now or at another time. Please note that you have 2 weeks to run the approved application before it expires. If the approval expires, you will need to submit a new request.
Request an Admin Session
1. Right-click the Admin By Request icon in the system tray and select "Request administrator access".
2. Fill in the required information for your request. Please be as detailed as possible.
3. After submitting your request you receive an acknowledge on the screen as well as by email.
4. If you request is approved you will see a popup in the bottom right of your desktop as well as by email.
5. You can choose to start your administrator session now or at another time. If you choose to run it later, right-click the Admin By Request icon and select the "Request administrator session" again as if you were creating a new request and the administrator session should start right away. Please note that you have 2 weeks to start your administrator session before it expires. If the approval expires, you will need to submit a new request
6. Please read the Code of Conduct notice carefully. Once you click Ok, your administrator session will begin.
7. Once your administrator sessions begins, you will see a countdown timer in the bottom right corner of your desktop indicating how much time is left in your administrator session.
Please Note : Once your Admin Session is over, any application that was elevated is forcibly closed. This prevents users from keeping a permanently elevated process running as administrator. Note that lengthy running installations that run passed the allowed administrator time will also be forcibly closed. To avoid this, make sure the access time is sufficient to install software.
