About Loaner Laptops

Requests for loaner laptops are not submitted to IT. Please see the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons website for the latest information.

Short Term Loaner

Laptops are loaned to students, faculty, and staff for a maximum of 48 hours. Upon check out, a valid Kean ID and completion of the Laptop Loaner Agreement Form are required at the front desk.

A request form can be filed online at the library webpage.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Equipment is loaned for a maximum of 48 hours.
  • Equipment must be returned at the specified time.
  • Equipment must be returned by the borrower.
  • The borrower is responsible for the equipment during the loan period.

Any damage that occurs during the loan period must be reported. If the laptop is damaged when returned, the borrower will be charged the appropriate fee (the University has the sole discretion in deciding whether the laptop is in acceptable condition).

Please direct all inquiries for Short Term loaners to the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons, either through their website chat feature or their reception desk.

Long Term Loaner

Students in need of a laptop for a longer period of time can submit a request using this form or by emailing the Community Care Coordinator, Carla Vitola, at [email protected]

After the request has been approved, you will be contacted with further instructions once the laptop is ready to be picked up. If you have not received notice for pick-up, your laptop is not yet ready. Please note that you will receive an e-mail confirmation when your request has been approved, which is separate from the pick-up notice.

Loaners For a Computer Under Repair

The Office of IT will only provide loaners as a temporary replacement for a faculty or staff computer held by the office for repair. These situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. A loaner computer may not always be immediately available.
