How to connect to CougarNet?

What is CougarNet?

CougarNet is a wireless network service for the Students, Faculty and staff of the University. All Kean Students, Faculty and Staff are recommended to connect to CougarNet to access on-campus network resources, including printers, network drives, and any applications that are hosted through Kean's servers such as Ellucian. Your Kean username and password should be used to connect to this wireless network.

How do I connect to CougarNet?

WINDOWS

Many people will be able to connect by using the Windows built-in menus.

  1. Go to the Start menu located at the bottom left of your screen
  2. Click on the Settings icon

           

   3. Click Network & Internet

     4. Select  WiFi  from the top left.

   


     5. Make sure WiFi is on and select CougarNet from the list of available WiFi networks.

  • Click on Connect
  • You will be prompted for a username and password. Enter your Kean username and password then click OK.
    If your computer has not yet received the certificate validating your connection is encrypted, it may indicate a Windows Security Alert warning message indicating “The connection attempt could not be completed.”
    • You can press a button to view  Details.

               

     6. Click on Connect.

               

MacOS

Many people will be able to connect by using the Macs built-in menus.

  1. Go to the Apple icon located at the top left of your screen
  2. Click on System Settings
  3. Click Wi-Fi on the left side of the window

   4. Make sure WiFi is on and select CougarNet from the list of available WiFi networks.

  • Click on CougarNet

         

     5. Use your kean username and password and click Ok.

         

     6. Click Continue to authenticate the connection.

         

Android/Google Pixel

  1. Google Pixel Phones
    1. Go to the Settings
    2. Go to Network & Internet
    3. Go to Internet and Select CougarNet
    4. EAP Method: PEAP
    5. Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    6. CA Certificate: Trust on First Use
    7. Identity: your username
    8. Password: your password
    9. Click "Connect"
    10. Is this network trusted? click "Yes, connect"
  2. Other Android Phones
    1. Identity: your username
    2. Password: your password
    3. CA Certificate: Choose "Don't Validate"
    4. Click "Connect"

IOS Devices

  1. Go the Setting
  2. Go to WiFi
  3. Select Cougernet
  4. Enter your username and password and click Join
  5. Click "Trust" the certificate
