What are Personal Agents?
In Keanu AI, Personal Agents are customizable assistants defined by a dedicated set of instructions that shape their behavior, tone, boundaries, and user expectations. These instructions ensure consistency, compliance, and security, and can be tailored to match the exact purpose and personality you want your agent to reflect. Personal Agents have boundaries—they must follow platform and data policy rules, may occasionally drift from their defined persona, and cannot access or replace official workflows. By maintaining a steady voice and clear style, your agent reduces repetitive setup, improves accuracy, and delivers a reliable experience tailored to your workflow.
A Personal Agent can be:
- A productivity assistant
- A writing helper with a specific tone
- A calm, supportive persona
- A subject-matter expert
- A creative brainstorming partner
- A workflow-specific helper
Personal Agents typically consist of:
- Specific Name
- Personality and tone profile
- Instructions and boundaries
- Optional knowledge files or sources (websites, pdf file, etc)
- Optional skills or integrations (internet search)
Identifying a Use Case
A strong use case for a Personal Agent typically involves tasks that are repetitive, require a specific tone, rely on specialized knowledge, follow strict behavior rules, or benefit from consistent responses.
Questions to Help Identify Your Use Case
- What problem am I trying to solve?
- What tone or communication style is required?
- Does the task depend on specialized knowledge?
- Is this a task I repeat often?
- Would other people benefit from using the same agent?
Examples of Strong Use Cases
- Tone‑specific writing assistants
- Project management helpers
- Standardized communication tools
- Subject‑matter expert personas
- Creative or brainstorming partners
When NOT to Create a Personal Agent
- One‑time or rarely repeating requests
- Highly variable tasks that lack predictable patterns
- Situations without clear rules or structure
- Tasks involving sensitive or restricted data
Creating a Personal Agent
You can create a Personal Agent by defining its purpose, personality, and behavior. These instructions form the core of how your agent responds, so having them well‑crafted is essential.
To make this process easier, Keanu AI includes an official System Prompt Generator Agent. Instead of writing instructions from scratch, you simply describe what you want your agent to do and how you want it to behave. Within a few minutes, the System Prompt Generator produces a complete, ready‑to‑use instruction set that you can paste directly into your new Personal Agent. This ensures consistency, reduces setup time, and prevents common formatting or structure errors.
Best Practices for Creating a Strong Agent
- Give your agent a clear, focused purpose.
- Be specific about the tone you want the agent to use.
- Provide clear examples of how you expect the agent to respond.
- List any behaviors or styles the agent should avoid.
- Use detailed, consistent instructions and avoid introducing any contradictions.
- Start simple, then refine over time.
- Test regularly and adjust instructions as needed.
Adding Knowledge Sources
Knowledge Sources give your agent additional information to reference. You can add knowledge by:
- Uploading documents or files the agent can read from.
- Linking to a specific website or subdomain when you want the agent to reference information from that location.
- Setting limits on how many documents or pages the agent can use to ensure responses stay accurate and efficient.
