Windows is verified through the University's network. When on campus and connected to campus internet, Windows is automatically activated and verified. If you receive an error message that Windows is not activated, then Windows will reactivate after connecting to the VPN.
Certain versions of Microsoft Office can be reactivated similarly if signing into the Microsoft account does not activate their license.
