Important Notice: Alumni Workspace Discontinuation
After careful consideration and in alignment with many of our peer institutions, Kean University will discontinue Kean Alumni Google email services and storage for alumni effective February 15, 2026.
Why This Change?
Kean University has transitioned to Microsoft 365. Alumni Workspace accounts, many of which are not frequently used, have become targets for phishing and spam, creating significant cybersecurity risks. By focusing our resources on current systems, Kean can better protect our community and continue providing reliable support.
What This Means for You
- Access to your Google Workspace account (including Gmail inbox, Google Drive files, Photos, contacts, and calendar) will end on February 15, 2026.
- If you were previously migrated to Microsoft 365 during your time at Kean, the deadline also applies to your alumni account.
- We strongly encourage you to transition to a personal email provider (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo, etc.) as soon as possible.
- If you need to request your Kean transcript, please visit the Registrar's Office website for instructions.
CRITICAL: Back Up Your Data Before February 15, 2026
If you have files in Google Drive, photos in Google Photos, or emails you want to keep:
- Download your Google Drive files by using Google Drive for Desktop.
- Download your photos and emails by using Google Takeout.
- Large accounts may take days to download—start immediately if you have significant data.
If you have files in OneDrive, or emails in Outlook you want to keep:
- Download your OneDrive files by using Exporting OneDrive Files to Your Computer Guide.
- Download your emails by using Exporting Kean Email to a Personal Email Account Guide.
- Large accounts may take days to download—start immediately if you have significant data.
Your Next Steps
- Download your data before February 15, 2026 using the links above.
- Update your email address on any platforms that use your @kean.edu email (LinkedIn, Handshake, etc.).
- Update your contact information with the Office of Alumni Relations to ensure you continue receiving Kean news and updates: Alumni Contact Update Link.
