Introduction
This article explains how to create and access your API credentials after your API Access Profile Request has been approved. API Access Profiles allow authorized users to securely access KeanU AI models through applications, scripts, integrations, and research projects.
This solution is for user who are approved for API Profiles
Use this solution when:
- Your API Access Profile Request has been approved.
- You need to generate an API key for an approved profile.
Prerequisites
- Request was submitted via KeanU AI – Elevated Budget Request
- Your API Access Profile Request has been reviewed and approved.
- You have received confirmation that access has been provisioned.
- You can successfully sign in to KeanU AI using your Kean University credentials.
- You understand and agree to follow Kean University's data security and AI usage requirements.
Instructions: How to Create My API Profile
Step 1: Log into KeanU AI
- Navigate to the KeanU AI platform.
- Sign in using your Kean University credentials.
Step 2: Open Settings
- Select your profile icon or name in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- Select Settings.
Step 3: Create an API Project
- Select API Projects.
- Select Create API Project.
Step 4: Configure the Project
- Enter a Project Name.
- Select the approved API Access Profile associated with your group.
- Select Create.
Step 5: Access Your API Credentials
Locate the newly created API Project.
Select the three dots (⋯) next to the project name, or click the project name directly to view:
- API Keys
- Endpoint
Important: Keep your API keys secure and do not share them with others.
Common Issues
I Do Not See My API Access Profile
- Possible Cause: The profile has not yet been provisioned yet Or you are not authorized to generate API profiles
- Resolution: Allow time for provisioning after approval. If the profile is still unavailable, email [email protected].
My API Key Was Lost
- Resolution: Once you have generated your API Profile in KeanU AI, you can always access your Keys via the application.
My Project Has Reached Its Monthly Token Allocation
Resolution: Each API project is approved with a specific monthly token allocation as part of the approval process. Token balances automatically reset on the 1st of each month. If additional monthly capacity is needed, the project owner (Faculty or Staff member) must submit a KeanU AI – Elevated Budget Request through the Service Catalog for IT to review. Students cannot submit Elevated Budget Requests on behalf of a project.
Important: Elevated Budget Requests must be submitted by the documented project owner (Faculty or Staff member). Requests submitted by anyone other than the documented project owner will be denied.
